The ever-talented guys behind the PyPy project, yesterday moved the project to Bitbucket!
PyPy is an implementation of Python in Python, sporting a JIT compiler, in many cases making it much faster than the canonical Python distribution. It’s related to the “unladen-swallow” project, run by Google.
From their site:
The PyPy project aims at producing a flexible and fast Python implementation. The guiding idea is to translate a Python-level description of the Python language itself to lower level languages. Rumors have it that the secret goal is being faster-than-C which is nonsense, isn’t it?
We’re hoping to one day run Bitbucket on PyPy itself, it’s proven immensely successful in a large number of benchmarks, and the team has done an outstanding job with it.
Welcome over guys, we’re very happy to be your host.
